Hotel Hotel Da Vinci

We spent a week here. The hotel is in a very good location, everything is easily accessible. The train station is 10 minutes away, from which you can easily and quickly get to the nearby cities (Florence, Pisa, Lucca). The staff is very kind and helpful, especially the waiter named Stefano. The room is comfortable and clean. The bed is big and comfortable. The breakfast is the usual buffet, everyone will find something suitable for them. The dinner is varied, very tasty, but not very large portions, it was enough for us, but it might not be enough for a person with a bigger appetite. The pool was in another building, it was clean and the view was nice.

Ok, this is a strange one. When we arrived, it was too early to check in, which was expected. No problem, can we stow our luggage please? Yes, that's fine. Cool, can we have a coffee and sit in the lounge until our room is ready? No, if you want coffee you'll have to go and find a cafe. I guess that should have been a warning bell... Anyway, we eventually checked in and the room was clean and spacious with good air con. Breakfast was excellent with very friendly staff but the next time we encountered the reception staff, they were as unfriendly as the first time. We noticed nobody was using the rather nice lounge or outside courtyard but based on the lack of atmosphere in both and the surly reception staff, we weren't surprised. They laughably have a drinks menu at reception headed 'Happy hour every day from 4.30.' On the last evening we thought maybe a drink before going out to dinner would be nice. I politely asked the girl on reception if we could have a drink and her verbatim answer was coldly "No. I'm too busy. I'm on my own and I have too much work to do for tomorrow's arrivals." So, no drink, no apology, it was like Fawlty Towers only not so funny. It's such a shame because this could be an excellent hotel if the staff had a better attitude and they offered a proper lounge menu with service to match. It didn't spoil our holiday because, well, Tuscany! But the hotel certainly didn't enhance our stay.

We received a warm welcome upon our arrival and felt really nice about it, the staff is very friendly. The small swimming pool is located on another building right across the street and it was easy to get there. The hotel is a bit old, the room had an kind of old look but a decent space, it was clean and the AC worked well, also there is a nice balcony. The shower was a bit small and the sliding doors were a bit difficult to open but okay, also the drain in the sink was broken. During the night we could hear our neighbors upstairs but nothing major. Also the location is very convenient, you can walk to the city center and even if you can't walk much it wouldn't be an issue since streets are flat. We paid 5 Euros per night to park our car on street right in front of hotel and it was just fine. Did not eat breakfast or any meal there but restaurant looked nice. I would stay in this hotel again. Price was $48 per night, not bad.

4 star hotel with a 5 star feel. Staff are incredibly friendly and very helpful. Rooms are clean and tidy. The entire setup is spot on. The cherry on top is the elevated swimming pool for the hot days. Highly recommend this hotel. Pics are close to hotel, all the pics I have seen would just be repeated. Just had breakfast refreshing to see some places still serve bacon and eggs! Definitely be back.

Hotel doesn’t deserve the 4 stars for its category because of limited car parking for guests, I had to pay for parking on the street for 3 days because the hotel car parking is for 4 tiny cars maximum, rooms are old and you can hear everything from the outside and from the other rooms like showering in the middle of the night and very loud garbage disposal because of glass bottles, etc. Breakfast is ok but they only give you one piece from certain types of food. To be able to go to the pool you have to cross the street and go to another hotel because the da Vinci hotel is based in another building. Only good things with this hotel are receptionists, who were very kind, and location which is near the center.
